Kroger Taste of Mexico

Finally time to post everything I did during the Kroger's Taste of Mexico event that went on for 3 weeks! This was my awesome BzzKit sent to me from BzzAgent. You can see I got some coupons to try the pre-cooked meats and the marinated fajita, a bottle of Coronado Leche Quemada (Cajeta) and a lemon squeezer that I absolutely LOVE!

The first chance I got I went to Kroger's on a Saturday to see what all the fun was about. We got to taste some good food and enjoy some music. These are two recipe cards I got the day I went, one was for breaded steak sandwich better known as Torta de Milanesa and the other was a jumex fruit smoothie. I LOVED the torta, the milanesa was done using a sweet chipotle bread crumbs from Kroger's private selection brand. I went home and made them the following day! The juice was ok, I'm just not a fan of greek yogurt.  The displays in the store were a little boring. I was expecting more since their website hyped it up so much.

That Saturday I came home with TWO boxes of meat one was the Beef Barbacoa and the other was the Pork Carnitas (the Chicken Tinga not shown is good, I gave it a try a few weeks later) I was very happy with the taste of all 3, my only complaint is they come with way too much juice. But all you really have to do is drain it before you place it in a bowl. The meat comes out so juicy and flavorful.

I decided to heat these bad boys up in a pot of boiling water, you can place them in the microwave too. But since I had some prep work to do I took this route instead.

While the barbacoa and carnitas was heating up we made some guacamole and salsa. We had to test out the new citrus squeezer sent, by the way it works GREAT! We heated up some flour and corn tortillas and some fajita (bell pepper and onion mix)

The following week we gave the fajitas a try. We got both the chicken and the beef fajitas, both so good!!! Look at that picture of the finished product OMG it makes me hungry all over again!!! Both meats come marinated and they both have a nice lemon flavor to them. So simple to just open up and place on the grill.

This weekend I made a to die for Choco-Flan (that's chocolate cake on the bottom and flan on top) I used the cajeta provided to me in my BzzKit as the topping. You can see I pored it all over the mold first, once the cake was done I topped it off with pecans. If you have never had a Choco-Flan I suggest you get one ASAP or better yet make your own! It's super easy and so fast to make one, I'm ready to make another one as I sit and eat a slice while typing this LOL

In the end the Taste of Mexico experience was so much fun! I love the food, it tasted good. Being Hispanic I was a little worried on how the food was going to taste. But I am impressed, the Carnitas has to be one of my favorites right now. If I'm ever in a hurry to make dinner that will be my back up plan. I enjoyed all the things Kroger's had to offer these past 3 weeks. And I had fun making one of my favorite dessert a Choco-Flan.

Thank you Kroger's and BzzAgent for letting me participate on this amazing adventure! Now go to Kroger's and try this stuff out!!!

Cheerios Protein

I know I have been quiet lately, I have been gathering up all my stuff for the Kroger's Taste of Mexico lately. But yesterday I received from BzzAgent my FREE box of Cheerios Protein Cinnamon Almond!

This morning I gave them a try with some sliced up bananas. Now let me tell you the ONE thing I can't stand is artificial almond flavor! BUT this box of Cheerios is GOOD!!! I don't have that bad artificial almond taste in my mouth at all. The little almond granola clusters are so good. It's the right touch of cinnamon with almond in every bite. I really enjoyed my bowl this morning a lot. I know they say protein gives you energy, and maybe it did for me because today I have been all over the place! My SO even told me this morning "What did you eat because I need that energy!" Of course I yell back as I'm walking out the door "the new cheerios cereal it's on the table!"

This cereal is truly yummy, if you are looking for a healthy new cereal I highly recommend this product! I can't wait to try the other flavor they have.

This is right from the BzzAgent website:

"The toasted O’s made with whole grain, combined with real cinnamon and crunchy almond granola clusters come together in a delicious harmony of two great flavors. Look for Oats & Honey and Cinnamon Almond flavors on your next shopping trip at a Kroger Co. store."

Influenster TLC VoxBox

So thanks to Influenster I was given the chance to get the TLC VoxBox!

I was super excited to receive my little box in the mail that day. As you can see the box contained the following:

Shell Fuel Rewards Network Card
Coupon for Breyer's Gelato Indulgences
Puffs to Go
Ivory Bar Soap
Avon Anew Reversalist Express Wrinkle Smoother

The Shell Fuel Rewards is a card that you link your debit card or credit card to, so this way you can receive fuel rewards depending on the money you spend. Now I'm all about saving money on gas, this is why I shop at Kroger's! Spend money on grocery's and get fuel point woot woot (shop on the weekend and you get double!) Anywho what I like about the Shell Fuel Rewards is that you get fuel rewards for eating at selected restaurants. This is a plus for me! Honestly I have to wait and see if I would really use it, I don't have a shell station close to me and my local Kroger's has a gas station now. I don't see myself using a Shell station any time soon but the idea rocks if you don't have a Kroger's!

Puffs to Go WITH LOTION is so convenient. Small package that fits in my diaper bag perfect for little noses right?!? The added lotion will keep little noses from turning red, and with spring in full effect those allergies are sure acting up. I'm a huge tissue user and having this little bad boy in my bag is awesome.

The Ivory bar of soap is going to be put in the microwave so it can explode and I can turn it into bath time fun for my little girl. Seriously people check on out Pinterest and you will see so many post on the things you can do with this bar of soap. You can even make your own laundry detergent! What I like is that it's free of dyes and heavy perfumes. This is great for my little girl who has very sensitive skin, poor baby at 2 months old had a reaction to perfumed baby shampoo all over her little face and chest. From that moment we made the choice to go with things free of dyes and perfumes for her.

The Avon Wrinkle Smoother to me was ok. Honestly I'm 31 years old and I embrace my wrinkles. This product was just not for me at all, I did give it a try over my make up like it said to do and yes it does it's job. It truly does blur the wrinkles I have in the corner of my eyes. But as a person who hardly wears make up and a first time mom I don't really have time to be adding an extra step to my "face routine" LOL I'm sure this product would be great for someone who is concerned about their wrinkles but for me I could do without it.

Now my favorite thing in this box was the Breyer's Gelato Indulgences ice cream! I had to go to Walmart to find the ice cream and I came home with a lovely sized ice cream tin of raspberry cheesecake! Let me tell you this was delicious, the gelato is so soft and creamy. The graham crackers on top is a little too much if you grab too many in one spoonful. But look at this picture

Look at how yummy that ice cream looks! That was on our date night what can I say we love playing video games. And what better way to end the night that on the Xbox One and some Gelato!

In all I was happy with my goodies in the TLC VoxBox, thank you Influenster for giving me the chance to review these products.

Taste of Mexico at Kroger's!!!

As you guys know I'm part of BzzAgent and the campaign that just started up is the Culinary Celebration at Krogers.

I'm excited to see what the store has to offer. They are going to have a 3 week long "Fiesta of flavor" going on with events being held each weekend. Sounds like fun! Now when it comes to Mexican food and what I need when I cook I just go to "Mi Tienda" Kroger's has never really been the store I go to when I need "traditional" ingredients for my food. But hey I'm willing to give them a chance and see how it goes.

They are going to have marinated meats now ready to go. Now I'm the type that would rather just marinate my own fajita's than buy the store brand. I guess I will have to wait and see how this will taste.

Another thing they will offer is precooked meals ready to go. Now this will be truly interesting, to see if these little packets will have the right flavor and kick to the meat that we all expect in Mexican food.

I'm waiting on my BzzKit to arrive with the following goodies:

  • A FREE bottle of Cajeta Coronado
  • A citrus squeezer for limes
  • A FREE coupon for Kroger Mexican Marinated Meats (16–24 oz, any variety)
  • A FREE coupon for Kroger Fully Cooked Mexican EntrĂ©es (16 oz, any variety)
  • $1.50-off coupons to share with other shoppers — you’ll receive a few for Kroger’s Mexican Marinated Meats AND Fully Cooked Mexican EntrĂ©es
Can we say YUMMO to the cajeta oh yeah, you know I'm going to make some Choco-Flan as soon as I get my hands on it. I'm honestly pretty excited to try the new foods being offered. I love to eat and I love to cook I just hope I wont be disappointed. But hey that's what it's all about right?!? Going out and testing out new things and giving an honest review about it.

Once my BzzKit comes in I will post pictures and let ya'll know how the "Taste of Mexico" goes.
